Aquatic physical therapy compliments traditional land based physical therapy programs. Water possesses unique properties such as buoyancy and viscosity so that a patient can exercise in a relatively “low or no impact” enviroment. This allows more comfortable movement and enhanced range of motion. ProFormance houses a Hydroworx 1100 rehabilitation pool featuring an integrated treadmill, resistance jets and an underwater monitoring system. Come see how you can improve your mobility, strength and function rapidly with aquatic rehabilitation.
When an accident happens or you suffer an on-the-job injury, you can be assured we will get you back to work as quickly as possible. Our knowledge, when combined with your motivation to return to work or your regular activities, will ensure that your recovery time will be drastically reduced. In addition to rehabilitating your injury, we can suggest ergonomic improvements for your work site and develop work-conditioning programs to help you return to normal function.
Vestibular dysfunctions involve the inner ear and can affect your balance, posture, and produce severe vertigo and dizziness. VRT can help restore your function and resolve your vestibular symptoms. Specific dysfunctions that can benefit from VRT by a licensed physical therapist include Benign Paroxymal Positional Vertigo, Vestibular Labyrinthitis, acute or chronic bilateral/unilateral dysfunctions, and motion sensitivity. Your physical therapist will work closely with your doctor to identify and treat your vestibular dysfunction.
Poor foot and leg mechanics can cause musculoskeletal problems from your toes to your head. Complete recovery from injury requires a clinician who has a thorough understanding of the body and how it moves.
Our trained experts at ProFormance will perform a thorough musculoskeletal evaluation to determine the cause(s) and compensation(s) of your particular problem. In addition, we can develop appropriate exercise programs, educate you on proper shoe wear, and also fabricate orthotics if your condition warrants them. Our staff will get you back on your feet in no time!
Perhaps one of the most rewarding aspects of our job is to help you improve your general fitness level and overall health. Our therapists can guide you with an exercise program designed just for you taking into consideration your special needs and desired goals. With special training, everyone can improve their fitness and learn ways to safely exercise.
There are many conditions that may impair your sense of balance and contribute to falls. The effects of aging are the most common causes of balance problems. Injury and disease can also affect your balance. 1 in 4 people over the age of 65 (who live at home) will fall during the next year. Because falling is a common and potentially serious problem, it’s important to find out what you can do to decrease your risk and improve your general health and mobility. Our therapists are specifically trained to help you improve your strength and balance and even evaluate your home environment if needed.
If there is a total joint replacement surgery in your future, a pre-operative educational and training class will provide valuable information and help you propare for surgery. Our therapists can do an assessment of your physical stature, including assessment of your injuries, strength and flexibility. Adjustments can then be made to your bike to position you in the best mechanical fit to reduce risk of injury and to maximize force production and bike control.
Our approach to spinal care is a combination of education, manual therapy, and exercise to help you reach your rehabilitation goals. This may include ergonomic assessment, counseling about posture and body mechanics, and specific training related to your sport, work, or activities.
